The PD of the Month Award Goes to “MBC Special – The Hometown in Which I Used to Live” and Two Other Pieces
The recipients of the 136th “PD of the Month Award” which is given by the Korea PD Union (President Lee Changsub), are MBC and KBS Drama Special “Hwapyung Princess Story of Weight Reduction” and Pusan TBN “To Meet a Person on a Mountainside Road.”
The winning piece for the field of TV Current Events / Liberal Arts – MBC Special “The Hometown In Which I Used to Live” – contains the scene of the hometown which is disappearing. Kumanri, which is fighting against a golf course to protect its right to life, and the people of Kulupdo, and the people of Keumkang Town who must lose the hometown in which they lived for 400 years due to construction of a dam, made the viewers reminisce again about their hometowns. It was an item which could give the feel of a stiff current events program, but it received favorable reviews—that it drew out the sensitivity of the viewers with the calm narration and by showing naturally the situation of the people of the towns who were split into support and opposition.
