Park Yuchun, the man who everyone wants to marry after the first date

“Do you know how much we love you?

Do you know why we love you?”

Those were some of the questions asked by fans in the fan made music video (MV). It was presented to Yuchun during “A Date With Park Yuchun” on September 17, 2011 at the Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand. 

In the MV, Thai fans showed how much and why they love Yuchun

And for two solid hours, Yuchun reciprocated the love and affection showered by his fans. It was like the perfect date that you had always dreamed of and you know that this is the man who you want to marry

That’s how good the first date was

This is my first fan meeting so I did not actually know what to expect. I guess fan-girling knows no boundaries, even if you don’t understand the language, his body language and the audience reaction is enough to keep you entertained

Met with CEO Kung before the start of the fan meeting.  While Yuchun was surprised with the turn out of the crowd at the airport and the fan meeting, the charismatic CEO was not. He was totally confident that a Date With Yuchun would be a big success. “JYJ is very popular and loved in Thailand so when there is an opportunity to bring them nearer to the fans, we immediately took that chance. They are a bunch of really talented guys and great people to work with. And it’s also thanks to the support from fans and the media, that we are able to organize such a successful event. I sincerely hope fans will have a wonderful time with Yuchun tonight” said CEO Kung

70% of the audience was Thai fans and the remaining were fans from Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia Philippines etc

Park Yuchun: Is he hot or just drawn that way?

In concert, Yuchun moves across the stage with a seductive, easy confidence and amazing stage presence

So it was a sweet surprise to see him speechless as he stood facing an estimated of 4,000 screaming fans who turned up for his “A Date With Park Yuchun”

Yuchun’s first words at the fan meeting were  “ Sawaddee Krub, Yuchun Krub” (Hello everyone, I am Yuchun).

Ah, he is still as hot as in all JYJ concerts!

Yuchun said he was nervous and afraid that nobody would welcome him since he came alone without Jae Joong and Junsu. The audience immediately voiced out their disagreement. No wonder he was speechless when he first appeared. (Yuchun, don’t you know that your fans will never let you down?)

Audience laughed when the host said that Yuchun could stay at his home. “Do you stay by yourself? Because if you stay with your parents, it will bother your parents” replied Yuchun, jokingly

Even though Yuchun came alone during this trip, I felt that Jae Joong and Junsu are always in his mind. He mentioned about how they wished him well for the fan meeting and had earlier planned to travel together to Thailand after his Miss Ripley filming had ended.  He gave fans a bigger hope by sharing that they might want to secretly travel to Thailand together again. The host laughed and does not believe that he can keep it as a secret!

“ I love Thailand and want to travel around Thailand so I will try my best to make it a secret “ said Yuchun  (Secretly? Good luck my dear)

The host joked that Yuchun knows how to speak Thai and Yuchun responded,  “I learned that Jub and Joob have different meanings – Jub is light kiss, Joob is kiss and Job with longer sound means a deep and passionate kiss”

Audience got really excited by this conversation and the host said that he will teach Yuchun new words but Yuchun must follow his instructions on how to express “Narak Ah (so cute)”. Yuchun hesitated but did as he was told anyway – Yuchun said “Narak Ah” while titling his head sideways. Yuchun was so shy and he practically limped on his knees while doing it halfway. The audience screamed in delight watching him says Narak Ah.

The host asked Yuchun about his favourite Thai food and he answered “ Before I came here, I really wanted to eat Padthai so I went to a Thai restaurant in Korea. But yesterday I ate Padthai at a local restaurant and it made me feel that this is the real Padthai. And I think that any woman who can cook Pad Thai is attractive ” (I can imagine Chunsas rushing to learn how to cook Padthai now!)

The host asked Yuchun if there is place that he likes to go when he has some free time, maybe to the beach? Yuchun answered, “There is no specific places that I usually go. I just want to try to enjoy life like any other young men my age and make new friends. So yesterday I went out with the staff to Farabella to watch a live band performance. I really enjoyed it”

Host asked more specific question about his acting career.

When asked about acting as a lead actor in Miss Ripley, Yuchun answered “ It was very hard filming this drama because it was during the raining season so we often had to change location and script. I tried my best but I wanted to do better.  It was not hard only for me but for all the actors and crew. I never thought filming drama would be this hard. We filmed overnight without resting time but it was bearable because we hope that viewers will like the drama and us”

Yuchun watched the official music video of Empty Space from the stage

Fans screamed each time there’s a romantic moments between Song Hyun and Jang Miri. The loudest was the scene where a love struck Song Hyun was rolling in bed staring at Jang Miri’s mobile number on his palm.

I can see Yuchun smiling unbelievably upon hearing fan’s reaction as they sang along to the song.

After the music video ended, Yuchun shared that ever since his debut years ago, he had always wanted to act but was not given the chance.

And when the host asked him if he thinks his acting is good, Yuchun humbly replied, “I don’t think so…” (But the audience disapproved his answer of course!)

“What did your JYJ band members think about your drama?” asked the host.  Yuchun smiled and answered, “Junsu said it was good but the way Jae Joong reviewed my drama was special because he did not only watched but also gave feedback about the colour tone of the certain scenes and said that the feeling is a bit different from the previous drama” Yuchun was asked by the host if he will act in a movie and he said “Maybe… but still a secret”

The host asked Yuchun “ Can you play the piano for us?” (Oh god I love this host!)

And to the delight of everyone in the arena, Yuchun said, “Ok but just a little bit” so he got up and walked towards the big grand white piano.

I wanted to scream out OMG and throw my own confetti the minute Yuchun’s delicate fingers touched the piano keyboard 

I sat there mesmerized as he plays the piano, his voice was so soulful and I could just melt like an ice cream

I was never into that song but tonight, the melody of Empty Space simply captured the beautiful feeling of the fan meeting.  Yuchun made every one feel like the song was meant for them, instead of the evil Jang Miri.

He smiled as he continued playing the piano and said, “I am making a new song. I made musical chords long ago but I have not completed the melodies yet. I will play some chords for all of you now”

So we became one of the very first few privileged fans to hear his new composition.

Ah… Perks of being on a date with Park Yuchun!

He came back to his seat and host asked if he needs to choose between being a singer or an actor, which one would he choose? Yuchun replied, “ I enjoy both singing and acting but will choose singing because singing on stage enables me to immediately feel the love from my fans directly”

Audience clapped their hands thunderously

He then asked the host to help pick 5 questions from fans

Do you believe in love at first sight?

“Yes, but it’s not love, it’s more about the interest”

Why don’t you tweet? You forgot your password again?

“I forgot before but not anymore”

If today you do not have any more fans, what you would do?

“ I would blame myself and all because of myself. If that situation were really to happen, it will be very painful and my heart would bleed”

(The audience was screaming, disapproving the question and I can hear girls yelling “Never!!!”)

How is Harang?

“If you love everything about me, can you love Harang’s poop too? (Yuchun wants someone to help him clean Harang’s poop and he tried to explain how difficult to clean Harang’s poop – it was a hilarious moment as everyone watched Yuchun’s gestures in explaining how to clean Harang’s poop)

Why did you choose Thailand for this first date?

“Because I like it here” (fans clapped like crazy upon hearing his reason)

Yuchun came back to stage wearing a white shirt with a shawl around his neck with his skinny jeans

411 presented a cake from the fan club. Yuchun smiled as he blew the candle. He then stood on stage to watch the surprise fan made music video

This is the one of my most favorite moments at the fan meeting

You can tell that the Thai fans put a lot of work into this. It’s all about Yuchun and the fans. It really touches your heart as it managed to capture the happiness and the joy of being a fan of Yuchun 

To be honest, it was truly an emotional but happy moments when I realized that Yuchun is in the same arena watching the video together with all of us, the fans.

It felt as if those sleepless nights of voting and spreading Yuchun’s success stories were all worth it as I see the footage of him going on stage to receive his drama awards

When the VTR ended, he turned to the audience and his eyes were brimming with love. I think the warmth from the fans overwhelmed him as he clapped his hands to thank fans for the video

Note to Thai fan club: you guys are amazing! This video totally rocks!

So with Yuchun in such a good mood and already on a roll, you can expect only good things to come at the fan meeting

True enough, during the Cham games session, Yuchun was so warm and friendly. He laughed, he smiled, he patted their foreheads, held their shoulders and he even opened his arms widely to hug them. He really played the games and enjoyed himself on stage. He even let them touch and hit his precious forehead. (Darn!)

Next is one of the most awaited segments

He came back on stage wearing a stylish designer jacket, white in colour with a white top matched with his blue skinny jeans

Host asked a few questions about Sungkyunkwan Scandal and he often pouts before he answers the questions - which were very cute. I feel like pinching his cheeks.

They played a clip of Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Yuchun obviously loved the crowd’s reaction towards the clip because he continued clapping even though the VTR was over. Chajatta was like a celebratory song to celebrate all the achievements of Sungkyunkwan Scandal. You can’t help but to feel so proud of him and my heart was swelling with pride

Then the moment that everyone has been waiting for – Chajatta Live solo performance

I absolutely love Yuchun’s solo arrangement of Chajatta. His velvety and soulful voice really fits the song beautifully. It is almost as if I can hear the yearning of Lee Soon Joon in his voice. I had goose bumps all over my body

Yuchun clearly had fans in the palm of his hand with this ‘stripped’ version of Chajatta, begging the question: how much longer must we wait to see the multi talented Yuchun perform his new songs at the next JYJ concert?

I feel like running back to CEO Kung to ask him when is the next date for JYJ concert! I wish I could scream for encore but event had to continue with the XO Games

In this game, Yuchun had to ask open-ended questions to the fans about himself.  Fans got almost all the answers correctly so Yuchun had no choice but to create more questions to test fan’s knowledge

This game directly made Yuchun confessed that what he finds attractive in women are their legs. He tried to frantically explain further to the translator but the host was too busy trying to calm down the audience. The fans were too excited to hear his confession

It was so much fun watching Yuchun get flustered on stage as he tries to outwit his fans! This time he has nowhere to hide, his usual partner in crime Jae Joong is not there to help him and there’s no Junsu for him to redirect the questions.

While trying to come up with more questions, Yuchun pouted, rolled his tongue around his gum, bit his lips, scratched his head, crossed his arms, crossed his ankles and finally resorted to confessing the colour of his under pants as a way to eliminate the fans

He was clearly embarrassed when fans did not believe that his under pant is blue and red lining in colour. So he had no choice but to show the colour of his under pants to the host as proof BUT the camera zoomed in unexpectedly so everyone saw the colour and the brand! It’s a Hilfiger

I can’t believe this! We saw Yuchun’s under pants! (Thank you Mr Cameraman)

Yes, Mr Park Yuchun, we out witted you!

Finally 10 winners were shortlisted from the audience and after much fight on stage, one lucky girl got Yuchun’s wallet. And at least three of them managed to be photographed with Yuchun.

I wonder if he would call his mother that night to tell her “ Mom, a girl gave me a ring on our first date. I just want to let you know about that”

Sigh, I don’t want this date with Yuchun to ever end

But I know it has to end soon

 “This fan meeting has been very enjoyable and I was most impressed with the clip that you have done for me. Thank you for coming even though I came alone. I don’t know how to return your love other than to work harder “said Yuchun as he try to end his date with his 4,000 fans

Awww Yuchun…

Then CEO Kung of 411 Entertainment came out to present a bouquet of flowers to Yuchun. He also took out a red paper heart cut out from his jacket and gave to Yuchun. And almost immediately the audience held up the red paper heart and the white mini paper cut so that Yuchun can see the formation.

Yuchun looked so touched as CEO Kung pointed to the audience and said, “This is from your fan club. The fan club provided everyone with this paper heart. They did this all for you! ”

Yuchun responded with a big smile, his face was glowing and said “ Thank you so much” in English and Thai. He waved to the fans happily as he left the stage

As I sat there on my seat, I whispered to myself
