[Twitter] update. This from @theyoungestmin (About JYJ/HoMin issue within the past year)

the youngest Min

On Tuesday 28th December 2010, said:
Before I write this, I take my position first. I liked all of them, of course, there was more and less. But I really liked them. Honestly, I like Jaejoong & Junsu more and then Changmin, Yuchun, Yunho are about the same.

For over a day... I thought how I could accept this circumstances.. I couldn't sleep all day long.
Before last Sunday, I truly hoped that HM would succeed without a doubt. And I didn't care that some of their fans blaimed JYJ or spreaded ridiculous rumors. I ignored them... Because JYJ still wanted to reunion and considered them, and I also did.

In fact, I was embarrassed to them when they announced their comeback and the launch of 5th album as name of TVXQ. But I tried to understand and remain quiet about that.
But.. when I heard their new title song... at first, I thought.. this 'why(keep your head down)' is not the same thing that Yunho sung at the last SM concert. Some of you don't understand and asked 'I don't know why you do it. what's wrong with you?'. Is the meaning of 'keep your head down' to avoid attracting attention? If they are not Korean, it wouldn't make a trouble. But they are Korean. In Korea, the meaning of it is totally different. The meaning of it 'keep your head down' is 'The head it drives'. Can you imagine the shock that we've got after heard it? And then I thought... 'who might this song be directed towards?' and thought and thought...

Perhaps, some of you told me 'why do you blame them? It could be a coincidence. They didn't make their new title song. It's an overreacting!!' But I don't think like that. At least, if they considered to JYJ only once and they want to reunion with JYJ, they didn't choose that song that would be possible to make a trouble. If they didn't make that song, they didn't do it at least.. After much thought I asked to others and found something to make excuses for them. But the more I did, the more clear evidences I came up with.. I remembered my boys suffered from.
Now that I think of it, I feel to be robbed. Some of you heard or knew about the 625meeting. Some fans said 625meeting was made to put the blame on HM. I also knew some fans made to translate in English, Japanese and Chinese and spreaded many international fans. But it was not true. It made to explain 'some kind of rumors' that TVXQ would be broken up because of their cosmetic business on the side. Some of you still have viewed JYJ with suspicion like this 'why did their parents have the meeting with fans?' Before the 625meeting, it very often happened in this fandom. But if you still have suspicion to JYJ, I want to ask you 'Have you heard about 623?' I told just before 'some kind of rumors' to be made on Jun. 23. 2009. That day was the starting point of spreaded on web communities. From that day, that rumors started to come out from some sysop of Yunho's fan pages. (I don't want to point somebody but... that was the truth that I knew.. so I couldn't help it.)
Some of them told that JYJ had a relation with CJ media. (CJ media is very huge. It owns Mnet and many other companies to relate to entertainment.) I'd rather be they are. If they are, they didn't have trouble with a work in Korea. CJ is really powerful company so it sheltered from the attack of SM.
When they came out from SM on Jul. 31. 2009, I knew that before because I heard about the circumstances from my friend the reporter at the part of entertainment in a leading newspaper. But It was a little different. In the early of 2009, when I heard their news at first, I heard they came out together. However, 3 of them came out, not all. I had thought there was difference of views between them.
But after last Sunday, I realized there was something to be unreliable. I told the couple talk between JS & YH and JS & YC in A. A. TVXQ the 3rd. JS constantly told about something at the end of both videos.
'I don't know if our fans would understand this but I think we can overcome any barriers in life. 'barriers', I'll leave it up to your imagination. But we do have problems. But we can overcome those problems together. Give us your support.'
'We talk a lot about future these days.'
When they were shooting, they also prepared the law suit against SM. I was frustrated why I weren't aware of.
SM announced their position about the law suit with JYJ On Nov. 2009. SM took a release copy to be sighed by HM. At those times, I was a little bit upset. JYJ was really shocked by a release copy. But I tried to understand them. I thought 'They couldn't help it. They didn't want to do it.' like this. Because JYJ wanted that fans understood their positions, I also did it without suspicion.
When JYJ started to work in Japan, Masatomatsuura said like this on his tweets,
'Yunho shook hands with me but Changmin ignored that I extended my hand at the last record awards.'
'I'm sorry if there were someone to hurt because of my honesty. But It was true... All the staffs of AVEX were watching it.'
'There is a rumor that HM move their company to Universal records in Japan.. It's just a rumor now, but if it is true, reunion of TVXQ actually would be hard.'
But on the middle of September AVEX had a foolish decision. There were many rumors about it. Before a month, it happened... the vice-president of SM went to Japan and met Masatomatsuura and then wine and dine him with some gifts.
My boys were hard pressed not to work in Korea and Japan. At the interview, they told that they thought to become a farmer. After I heard it, I was really upset. They are not foolish. They could blame them if they wanted to do. But they didn't do it. They always wanted to reunion with HM. And they know that it won't be good to each other.
To blame others... I think it means the last.. At least, it couldn't happen if they considered all fans and their members...
Anyway I always tried to understand and respect them despite these rumors.
Many all fans were embarrassed and disappointed to them after heard about their new title song. Now I don't want to do it anymore, too. I'll support my boys much harder. Even so, I won't become HM's antis.. I'll be just indifferent to HM's action. I still hope the reunion because my boys want to do. And I still have some feelings left for them. I really trusted them.

There were many others to happen. But I arranged just big news from nowhere. Because it is just to spit on my face, I don't want to expose their embarrassing matters.

Note:  In Korea, when someone ignores and looks down the others, we use expression like this, 'keep your head down'. It's really vulgar expression.

In support to what theyoungestmin said about the letter of Yunho and Changmin. I have posted it below here so people can view it.

Changmin and Yunho support SM Entertainment
Yunho and Changmin of DBSK/TVXQ have stated that they are on SM Entertainment’s side on the legal dispute between the company and other three members.
They said that they trust SM Entertainment and will be with them in the future. The two also gave a deadline to the other members (Junsu, Yoochun, Jaejoong), expressing that DBSK will come back to promote in Korea next spring, so the other three members must make a decision before the 12th of this month.
The two members’ thoughts were delivered through a document compiled by Yunho and Changmin themselves, which stated:
We five members of DBSK signed the same contract with the same clauses for the past five years, and have worked together under same conditions with utmost trust in the company, each other and our dreams. We intend to share our dream and future with the company and keep the promises we made in the contract. DBSK was made by SME and we intend to work as DBSK with SME.
No other company can create DBSK, as only SME can provide the best production and management team available. The three members should know better than anyone else that SME is the one who knows DBSK the best and made us the best. We intend to keep trust and promise and thus intend to stay. DBSK’s grand future will be with SME.
We believe that our Korean promotion, planned for next spring, should be prepared at least 6 months in advance before our future as one becomes unclear. If the other three members truly want to stay as one DBSK, they must make a decision before it’s too late.
They also commented on the beauty product controversy which sparked this legal dispute between the DBSK trio and SM Entertainment:
The beauty product business changed everything. We are not familiar with the matters but we believe that a legitimate company that seeks to do business with DBSK must consult with SME first. It is common sense. We did not get involved because being such a relationship without SME would have meant that trouble was ahead.
We did not want the reputation and pride of DBSK, earned by our hard work, to be ruined by a company that did not work in a legally respectable manner. We are not aware of the contract between that company and the three members, nor do we know what those members were told or how much they have earned through their deal. What we do know is that the fact that DBSK, forged together for five years by all of our dreams, has fallen into its current state because of an unethical company that is simply unacceptable.
With DBSK crumbling away like this, the current situation is unbelievable. It is sad to see that this was all caused by some beauty product company, and we hope that the three members would come back to the days when we were all working hard for our dreams.

[News] Yunho and Changmin’s fathers express strong disapproval of other members

This news was last year in August. It happened after a few days after JYJ filed a law suit against SM

Many readers and TVXQ/DBSK fans were shocked when members Yunho and Changmin revealed their support for SM Entertainment just an hour ago. But it looks like things aren’t ending there – two other very important men involved with this controversy have decided to express their thoughts.
The fathers of Yunho and Changmin, the two TVXQ members who were not involved with the controversial lawsuit earlier this year, spoke up in support of their sons and SME while condemning other three members and their parents. They claim that the dispute has more to do with the trouble that has arisen from the beauty product business rather than mere contractual matters.
Mr. Chung, the father of Yunho, stated:
The two members who did not involve themselves in this legal dispute are the real victims here. They suffered from financial loss, psychological suffering and most importantly they lost their reputation. Who is to compensate them for their losses? I intend to ask the other three members this: Whatever the reason, why do you intend to cause such great controversy and drive DBSK, an international brand name, into a break-up? Do you care at all about the other two members and their suffering?
The beauty product business wasn’t something that was supervised by SME. On top of that, the beauty product company itself wasn’t very trustworthy. When it was started, I felt that DBSK’s reputation could potentially suffer from involvement with that company and advised my son of the issue. He shared my concerns as well, and that is why he did not involve himself in the business. SME later asked the three members to withdraw from the business but their parents resisted unreasonably. Mr. Shim (Changmin’s father) and I tried to convince them as well but they simply refused to change their minds. I later learned that the three members took up legal actions against SME without consulting me nor Mr. Shim. DBSK is not owned by those three members only. They ignored not only the controversy that would rise but also the rights of other two members.
Mr. Shim, father of Changmin, stated:
Simply put, the other three members took legal actions against SM because of the beauty product business matter and other reasons which involve their financial gains. What they claim as their reasons, reasons such as unfair contract and unclear profit division are merely excuses to hide the true reason behind their actions. After the three members started the beauty product business, one of the parents called me and told me shenanigans like “This business can be worth millions or even billions in the future. When we tell the media that DBSK has started a business, share price of our company will hit the roof – we will tell you in advance so you can profit from the information.”
Three members claim that the contract is unfair and calculations are unclear, but my son and I have read over the contract with SM clearly and agreed to all clauses, from the very first contract through all five revisions that have been made. For every income my son has received I reviewed all of the the numbers. I feel sorry for the three members and their parents as they must know of the truth but they continue to make false claims.”
Looks like this is really heating up… make sure to stay tuned as allkpop continues breaking developments on this controversy to you first. Also check out the quintet’s #1 international fan forum, OneTVXQ Forums

I have dug this up and posted here so people can read and understand what Yunho's and Changmin's parents said about JYJ's law suit. So after the news about SM's contract reviews I think they should apologize to JYJ dont you think so.

[Interview] 101220 [Star OX] JYJ, “TVXQ, A Reunion Is Possible

Due to their legal dispute with their former agency SM Entertainment, Junsu, Jaejoong and Yoochun are currently active as JYJ, not TVXQ. Each are trying new things such as dramas and musicals and showing off their hidden potentials, but recommenced activities as singers when they released their album ‘The Beginning’ on October 14th. The album has been successful with pre-orders for ‘The Beginning’ hitting over 520,000 copies and ranking 5th on the This Year’s Songs chart chosen by US Billboard readers. Though they’ve been going non-stop, they are now stuck in a situation where the members of TVXQ are being pitted against each other with U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin announcing their comeback as a two-member TVXQ in January of 2011. Though it is a sensitive topic, we could not help but ask about TVXQ. Though the three people expressed their unwillingness as they said, “Though it isn’t something we can’t talk about…” they answered our OX questions in a candid manner.
Question 1. A TVXQ reunion is possible : O
Though they have never mentioned the possibility of a TVXQ reunion since they began their independent activities, it is the subject that 800,000 Cassiopeia (TVXQ’s fanclub) have been most curious about. Though JYJ seemed taken aback at first, they confessed that, “We haven’t had a chance to talk about it (a reunion), because we’ve never had anyone actually ask us about it.” Jaejoong said, “We want a reunion to happen. But that is only our will, there are so many difficult aspects to the situation. As there are so many things we can’t change…
Question 2. The establishment of a two-member TVXQ, honestly, we’re sad about this : O
SM recently announced that, “U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin, will form a two-member TVXQ, release a new song on January 5th and make a comeback.” What do JYJ think about this? Yoochun confessed that, “There is a side of us that is sad about this.” Because the team’s name was about the three members had worried about and discussed the most when they were creating their new team. But he added that, “But this is a decision that was made by SM. I’m sure that in their hearts, the two members are also feeling uncomfortable about this and are having a hard time because of it. But the decision has been made, so I hope all goes well for them.”
Jaejoong also added that, “Though we do feel a little sad that the two members are going to make a comeback as TVXQ, we are thankful that they didn’t say that TVXQ is now gone. We’re going to support the two members’ comeback.”

Question 3. But we will still be TVXQ eternally : 0
Though they are physically apart, their hearts are still one. Jaejoong stated, “Regardless of whether or not they are using the name now, even if the team name disappeared, we are still TVXQ. It was during our time as TVXQ that we shone the most and gave it our all. That is something that no one can deny.
He continued to explain that, “We didn’t work hard to see who could do better between them and us. We worked hard with all our might because we felt that we should be successful enough as to not disgrace the name of TVXQ,” and “Though we have come to such a situation due to our problems with the agency, we are still members of TVXQ. The three of us alone cannot be TVXQ. Cassiopeia was created because they loved TVXQ as a whole, not because they loved individual members.”
Question 4. We think we are idols stricken with age : O
Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong debuted in the Kpop scene as teenagers. Five years have passed and they have become youths in their mid-20s. Though the question of age is one that can be quite fatal to idols, JYJ nodded without a hint of hesitation.
Yoochun revealed that, “It’s not that we’re old. I think that we’re still pretty young but because so many kids who are much younger than us are debuting, we feel like they find it hard to relate to us when we get the chance to meet.” But Jaejoong joked as he said, “But don’t you think we look quite young for our age?”
They were able to build on their appearance as artistes with five years of experience in their pockets. Their new album includes compositions by the three members and they participated in making the decisions on their photoshoots, the album concept and the song choice. Junsu showed his pride as he said, “Though there was much more that we had to worry about and work on, that made us feel more affectionate towards this album. I feel as though we are leaning more towards being artistes rather than idols than before.”
Question 5. We knew that JYJ would be a hit : X
This was the only question that was answered with an X. They only printed a small number of albums because they weren’t expecting much as the album market is in such a slump. But the reaction they received was so unexpectedly explosive that even people in their agencies weren’t able to receive CDs.
Jaejoong said, “We were allowed to choose album numbers for ourselves. I got number 99,999, Junsu got number 9,999 and Yoochun got number 2.” Though they ranked #1 on the album sales charts, they did not have many opportunities to perform. Other than their showcases and concerts, they weren’t able to showcase their talents as singers.
Regarding this, Junsu said, “Of course we do feel upset that we didn’t have many opportunities to perform. But there were many things we anticipated would come our way including restrictions on our activities. So we focused more on the sense of accomplishment and joy we felt about the fact that our first album, created from our hard work and our effort, had been released. It is meaningful to us.”

[Interview] 101220 JYJ’s New Leap “The Broadcasting Restrictions Are A Shame”

Unable to engage in regular activities due to problems with their former agency
Their album will be released in the US early next year, followed by a world tour

They are honest and austere. The three members of JYJ, Jaejoong-Yoochun-Junsu, are passionate youths in their mid-20s, no different from their peers. When we asked Yoochun, who recently starred in the drama <SungKyunKwan Scandal> as the lead role, “We enjoyed your drama. Do you plan on taking on a non-historical, modern drama?” he gave us a taste of his ‘lame humor’ by saying “Hyundai Geuk (modern drama), Kia Geuk, Samsung Geuk…” Everyone burst out in laughter a beat late.

But when we brought up the topic of their legal dispute with SM Entertainment, the agency of their former group TVXQ, a shadow was cast on the three youths’ faces. Last July, the three members filed an exclusive contract suspension injunction stating that, “13 years for the contract length is too long, and we have not been receiving just treatment with regards to things such as income distribution from album sales.” The Courts ruled in favor of JYJ that, “Until the verdict on the lawsuit is made, SM cannot interfere with the trio’s independent activities in the entertainment industry,” and the lawsuit on the exclusive contract is currently underway. With regards to the reason of why they filed the lawsuit, Junsu stated, “It wasn’t just because of the unjust nature of the contract,” and “We were hurt and scarred by the agency in areas where we put our trust in them so we began to think about searching for a happy life.“

Though JYJ released their first album <The Beginning> in October, they have not been able to engage in regular activities due to many problems, including SM claiming that JYJ are locked in a ‘dual contract’. The Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry sent an official document to broadcasting companies requesting that they refrain from giving JYJ appearances on their shows. Junsu stated, “It’s a shame and it’s frustrating that we don’t have the freedom to appear on TV like other singers. Because our relationship with AVEX, who was in charge of our Japanese activities, no longer exists, our door to Japanese activities is blocked as well.”

They are currently holding activities after signing on to an agent contract with CJeS Entertainment. What is different from before? “Everything that we thought was unjust has been fixed. We feel a greater sense of accomplishment because everything revolves around our opinions, no matter what it is. We’ve learned to be thankful of even the small things that we used to easily brush off before.” (Junsu) “Each and every detail on the album, from the cover to the recording and mixing of the songs, was decided upon through discussions between the agency and the three of us. The thought that ‘Doing things this way is really nice’ was reinforced through the process.” (Jaejoong)

“Back when we were TVXQ, there was too much work and no time to spare. When we were working on an album, the staff, excluding us and our composers, would hold discussions and just send us their decisions on everything.” (Yoochun)

The trio decided to include songs composed by each of them in their album. Junsu stated, “We enjoy writing songs, but we won’t insist on having to include songs composed by ourselves,” and “What matters most is that we’re singing good songs, regardless of whether it was us who wrote the songs or not.” In their first concert on the 27th and 28th of last month, they sang Jaejoong’s new composition ‘Nine’. It is a song about the nine years the five members of TVXQ have spent together. “When I look back on the past nine years, there were times when we shined and there were times when things were rough… It’s hard to express it all in one sentence. What I included in the song is only a small portion of what I feel.” (Jaejoong) “If we were to express in song, everything that has happened till now, we’d need to compose at least 500 songs?” (Yoochun)

The trio still have a strong attachment to ‘TVXQ’. When asked about their feelings on U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin’s comeback as TVXQ next year, Jaejoong stated, “We support them and we hope all goes well for them.” But he also added that, “But we do feel sad that they’re using the name TVXQ. Because we think that TVXQ can only truly be TVXQ when the five members are together, we decided to use another name. TVXQ is a name that is as valuable to us as our lives.” Yoochun added, “Though we are currently facing many difficulties, we are always open to the possibility of a TVXQ reunion,” and “That would be like Utopia for us.”

JYJ will be kicking off their US activities with the release of their album in the US early next year. Jaejoong stated, “While we’re in the US, we’ll be working on some music and holding a world tour.” Junsu sounded bitter as he stated, “There is the aspect that due to the restrictions on our domestic activities, we’ve had to entirely focus our attention on overseas activities.“

We asked them one final question. We asked them whether or not they felt sad that other singers were reaping the rewards of the hard work the members had put in to get the ‘Kpop’ wind blowing in Japan as JYJ are unable to perform there.

“Not at all. We were able to be loved in Japan thanks to BoA and Bae Yong Joon. If what we’ve done benefits our juniors, then that’s something to feel good about. If our juniors to well and the Japanese market expands, we might be able to perform in Japan again.” (Junsu)

[Interview] 101219 JYJ, “We Are Considering Reconciliation, We Don’t Know When That Will Happen Though”

Standing alone is tough.

From leaving their agency to filing a lawsuit last July, the members of TVXQ became the hottest issue in Kpop last year. TVXQ members Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and YoungWoong Jaejoong have not stopped going since then. They changed their names to Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong to become the group JYJ and when asked about their schedules since then, they confessed that they’ve been doing nothing but concentrating on their work.

“We’ve been going back and forth from Korea to Japan to perform. We’ve had concerts in both Korea and Japan, and we’ve also had our individual activities. I think we worked hard to stay busy and succeed in our individual activities because we didn’t want to think about other things.” (Yoochun)
SM Entertainment, the agency they worked under as TVXQ, had been a tall fence for them. But last year, they decided to take a giant leap. They parted with their agency. Though the controversy is still alive, the three had to rely on only each other and hope for a brighter future as the lawsuit continued on. But they were not taking a break before they met their current management agency. For a while, they were able to perform in Japan as their Japanese agency AVEX was taking care of them.

“We’re still in the same kind of situation now, but back then, we were cautious and sometimes had no chance to say certain things. This was when we were like a wandering rabble in Korea. But that didn’t mean it was easy for us to meet up with reporters. It was a sensitive time when any and every comment was misunderstood or criticized. It was a time when anything we said could and would hurt a lot of people. We’ll probably be able to talk about everything in the future, after the lawsuit is over.” (Jaejoong)

JYJ, who released new albums in both Japan and then Korea, decided to name their album ‘The Beginning’ to signify their new beginning. Due to visa issues, they had to hold free showcases in the United States instead of charging people. But this misfortune became an opportunity for them.

“Never in our imagination did we think fans from so many different ethnicities would show up to watch our performances. The age range was quite large too, so a grand spectacle, one you could only see at a performance by a famous pop star like Michael Jackson, unfolded before us. There were some people who didn’t know who we were so they stared at us blankly at first, but then they’d start moving to the music and get in the groove, and by the end, they were giving us a thumbs-up. They had quite a different aura to them compared to our Asian fans.”

Thanks to the fact that the performance was free, the three were able to introduce their music to more people. Even the production for their first album was done in a global manner. The album attracted some of America’s greatest star producers such as Kanye West and is composed of seven songs, including ‘Ayyy Girl’, ‘Empty’, ‘Be My Girl’ and compositions from the members, as well as three remix songs. JYJ sang the entire album in English as this is a worldwide album and it includes songs composed by the three members. They included one song from each member that the three had been writing since they were in their teens and these were Jaejoong’s ‘Still in Love’, Yoochun’s ‘I Love You’ and Junsu’s ‘I Can Soar’. Also, ex-SOLID member Jung Jae Yoon was in charge of the overall tuning and producing of the album.

“They’re traditional pop pieces. This is the first time we’re trying this genre out. But that doesn’t mean we were trying to change it to suit our style. We wanted to return to the root of music. We visited the US in order to work with our producers. Back then, Yoochun was still filming for his drama so it must have been really hard on him.” (Jaejoong)

These were words directed at Yoochun, who appeared in the recently-ended KBS2 hit drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’. After being cast in the drama, Yoochun focused intensively on rehearsing his part and surprised everyone with his acting skills. He was not swept in any acting skills controversies like most idol stars are when they first start out. He surely must have felt extremely stressed back then but continued to work on the album while filming. JYJ are now planning to focus more on their activities in America.

“Our album hasn’t been officially released yet in the US and only our songs are being sold on iTunes, but I saw that our song had been chosen by Billboard readers as one of the Top 10 songs of 2010. Amazingly, we were 5th. Kanye West was 10th and Lady Ga Ga was 7th so we were surprised.” (Junsu)

Junsu will be standing on stage next year on February 1st as he will be appearing in the musical production ‘Tears of Heaven’. Like so, the trio are involved in individual activities, waiting to release their album in the US in mid-January, and planning their world tour. We threw a quite heavy question at JYJ, who will be up to their elbows in work with such a schedule, asking them, “What will you do about SM Entertainment or the remaining members of TVXQ, regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit?” Though they were hesitant, they left a short but bold statement promising a future together as they said, “We are considering reconciliation. We don’t know when that will happen though.”

[Interviews] 101220 JYJ’s First Interview “We Consider Ourselves As TVXQ Before JYJ”

They, who have been born again as JYJ from TVXQ, stated that they have never forgotten their ‘TVXQ’ roots. Though they are walking down a tunnel that wears them out physically and emotionally with many ordeals such as their continued lawsuit with SM, and the TV appearance restrictions that face them due to this problem, this is something they had been anticipating from the start. JYJ, who sing of hope amidst the chaos and adversities that surround them, are thankful of and treasure even the smallest things, as if they’ve embraced once more the feelings they had during their times as rookies.
What should be especially noted is that fans are an absolute presence to them. If talk of fans came up even when we were conversing pleasantly, their voices would drop deeper, and their eyes would tear up. We listened to JYJ’s story of spreading their presence out into the world with the fans’ support on their backs.
-What’s different about having activities as JYJ than before? What are the good and bad points?
▲ A good point would be that we’ve definitely fixed what needed to be fixed contract-wise, and the agency and the artiste are now on equal levels. We control what we do and how we do it from the beginning to the end. Those would be the advantages and we’ve formed an attachment to them.

A disadvantage could be that our current agency is weaker system-wise than our past one as it is quite new, which may be causing some of the ordeals we are still facing. But we don’t see it as a disadvantage because we see this as the process of becoming stronger. We are slowly but surely strengthening our system.
-The two members of TVXQ under SM will begin their activities in January? What do you think about this?
▲ We hope everything goes well for them. Our two friends’ comeback is something to welcome and we wish to support it. But honestly, we do feel sad that they’re using the name TVXQ. It’s not that they are TVXQ and we are JYJ. We consider ourselves as TVXQ before JYJ. It isn’t that the name TVXQ and the members are separate, it is that the name is meaningful only when the five of us are together. That is why we decided, after much thought and consideration, to use our initials to create JYJ instead of using the name of our group TVXQ so their decision makes us feel all the more sad with mixed emotions.”
-The Beginning album is in English. Why is it in English? Why did you choose to make a worldwide album?
▲ It’s not that we insisted that it had to be in English, we just decided to create a worldwide album because we have fanbases, not only in Korea, but in other places such as Asia and the US. We are so happy to have been able to meet with such top producers.
-Participation by representative artistes such as Kanye West and Rodney Darkchild Jerkins made your album a hot issue. What was it like?
▲ Before we met them, we felt a little pressured and wanted to keep our distance because they are such famous individuals. But once we met them, we found them to be great people who made us feel comfortable. Though we were distant at first, in the end, we felt that, ‘They’re people, just like us.”
-Your concert ended recently. There were many ups and downs, but how does it feel to have ended your concert well?
▲ The story of the concert is like a movie. We prepared so much, our anticipation was so high and we did our best to get ready, but we were met with hail and snow on the first day, which meant that we had to take down the roof cover that we had devoted the most time and energy on; it was so distressing. Because of this, there were 3~4 programs that we didn’t get to show our fans and we were upset because it felt as though we had failed to keep our promise to our fans.
But we were satisfied with the new type of choreography that we tried out with America’s best choreographers, the performances and the new songs. We were happy to have fans there with their warm support though it was such a cold day and we believe that the concert was a satisfactory one overall. After it was over, the members got together and cried our eyes out. We suffered by sleeping two, three hours in a week and there were many up and downs, but we feel happy to know that we showed our fans everything we wanted to show them.
-The lyrics for the song ‘Pierrot’ became a hot topic because of their profound meaning. What meaning do your compositions have for you? Do you write songs in your spare time? Does that mean we can presume that these compositions will be included in a new album soon?
▲ We do not feel that you have to write songs in order to be a musician. We write songs in our spare time for fans because we like music and we enjoy composing music and find it fun. Another reason is because we wanted to sing songs in Korean for our Korean fans at our concert. Because the songs were well-received, we want to release a commemoration album and we’re preparing one right now.
(Jaejoong) For the songs I composed, I wrote them thinking back to the times when I first began writing songs. Nine, which was written with the most basic chords in music, is meaningful as it reminisces of past memories, and I wrote Pierrot because I’ve always wanted to write a song criticizing society, much like many of the songs that came out during our rookie days, and I wanted to write about the stories of students trapped in school.
-Haven’t there been interferences in your activities, such as problems with appearing on TV and distributing your OST? How do you feel about these?
▲ We think it would be more adequate to call them hindrances, rather than interferences. Those were difficult times. But this was something we had anticipated from the start. It’s hard to decide to leave your agency if you aren’t prepared to accept that you may never be able to sing on stage again. We had mixed feelings and would think ‘How could they do such a thing’ at times, but we never gave up and thanks to our fans and our management family, we were able to reap good results. We believe we are now making great progress.
-We can’t not talk about the lawsuit. Recently, there has been much talk about your relationship with C-JeS, your current agency, what kind of contract do you have with them?
▲ C-JeS isn’t our ‘entertainment agency’, they are our ‘management agency’. We are trying to integrate a system that has never been tried before in Korea but is used in Japan and the US. It is where you sign a contract for each specialized job, such as management, distribution and advertisement. Not only are we using this system because we can’t sign on with another entertainment agency, but also because we want to work hard with a sense of duty as many people are watching to see what we’ll do next. C-JeS respects artistes and have been taking the role of an assistant till now, helping us to achieve good results.
-Your Japanese agency decided to suspend your activities indefinitely due to your relationship with C-JeS, what will happen to your future activities in Japan?
▲ It’s a frustrating problem. We’re trying as hard as we can to resolve the issue.
-Please say a couple of words to greet 2011 for your fans, who have been waiting to meet JYJ.
▲ (Yoochun) Because 2011, full of hope, is approaching, I don’t want to talk about this and that of my past anymore though it may be hard to keep it in. JYJ is prepared to show you the ‘epitome of working hard’ by working as hard as we can. I want to meet with fans in a casual environment. Next year, I will have fun while participating in our activities.
(Jaejoong) Me too. I don’t know what I should say because I have so many things to say, but honestly, these days I feel a bit confused. Please take this in a good way. I was confused as to who I should put as my priority in my life, is it me, is it our fans who helped me overcome the many waves that crashed down on my life, or is it best to prioritize both myself and our fans. People probably saw the fluctuations in my emotions through the tweets on my Twitter account. If I think of myself before others, I feel cold-hearted but if I think of our fans before others including myself, tears spring to my eyes. It’s been hard trying to find a balance, but I don’t think there will be any days in the future that were harder than those early this year. I will work hard for myself and for others.
(Junsu) What I can honestly say is that it’s a miracle that we’ve been able to come so far though we’ve gone through so many ridiculous ups and downs and it’s all thanks to our fans that we’ve been able to attain such an opportunity. I sincerely thank our fans. And our members, who held on much better than I did. I’ve been able to stay strong thanks to those two. We’ll keep knocking as hard as we can to open up more doors and possibilities.
