[Trans] 20110713 Kim Jaejoong Talks About Park Yoochun’s Acting Habits

“Park Yoochun has a habit of raising his eyebrows.”
Kim Jaejoong who is to be reborn as an actor with the new SBS drama “Protect the Boss” revealed the acting habits of Park Yoochun.
Kim Jaejoong spoke at an interview with Star News on July 12th, “Yoochun’s habit during acting is to raise his eyebrows in order to express his emotions. It was the same during the filming of Sungyunhwan Scandal but because of his costume it wasn’t that visible.”
From the recent drama “Miss Ripley”, “In his emotional scenes with Lee Da Hae, I’ve counted his eyebrows being raised more than ten times,” Jaejoong said laughing.
Kim Jaejoong and Park Yoochun who have the friendship of brothers, Park Yoochun is ahead of Jaejoong in the area of drama and acting and so has shown good advice, friendship, and a good presence to Jaejoong.
In regards to this, Jaejoong said that, “It’s not that I want to explain all the details of Yoochun’s life as a star, but I think he can get advice from what I felt from his acting,” Jaejoong also spoke further about Yoochun’s acting, stating that, “When acting, you can feel a certain freedom. I’m jealous of this freedom and wonder when I will experience it too.”
On the day of the interview, Jaejoong met Yoochun at a hair salon, who was preparing for a shooting of “Miss Ripley”. He said that, “Even while he was getting his hair shampooed, he still had his script in his hand and was memorizing his lines. “It seems that because of his tight schedule sleep is about an hour, his eyebags seems to reaching down to his lips.”

[TRANS] 110707 Park Yoochun : “If My Lover Was Full Of Lies, I Wouldn’t Be Able To Accept It”

Park Yoochun said, “If my lover’s attitude was full by lies, I probably wouldn’t be able to accept it.”
Park Yoochun, who is playing the role of conglomerate heir Song Yoo Hyun in MBC’s “Miss Ripley” said that he wouldn’t be able to accept the relationship if the situation in the drama happened to him in real life.
On 7 July, the “Miss Ripley” site released a Park Yoochun interview video, in which he spoke about his role in the drama as well as his thoughts and issues faced when playing the character.
He said, “I did not place any emphasis on the role of CEO, but thought more about the past and future of Song Yoo Hyun as a person when playing the role.”
About participating in the drama OST with “An Empty Space Left For You,” Park Yoochun said, “I heard it got on the charts, but I have yet to see it for myself. I recieved this song while we were touring in America. Upon returning to Korea, we recorded the song in between shootings, and made changes to the song twice. However, I personally feel that there are still parts that could have been improved.”

[News] 110706 Interview Miss Ripley's Park Yoochun

What do you think of your role as CEO SongYooHyun?
Instead of thinking about CEO position as a priority, I care more for  Yoohyun’s past and future.

What is the story behind the recording of MissRipleyOST “A space left for you”?
The OST is on the chart, but I don’t have the chance to confirm it. I got this song while I was in the US for the world tour. After coming back to Korea, I recorded the ost during my free time and recorded it twice.  To me, I feel somehow regretful. (T/N:YC thought his voice condition was not good then)

[Interview] 110114 Interview Yoochun - Chosun

When JYJ member Park Yoochun first accepted his acting role, many people asked questions such as, “Why is a singer acting?” But Park Yoochun’s challenge has gained him high acclaim. Acting in last year’s KBS drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” and in the 2010 KBS Drama Awards, he won the Best Newcomer Award and Netizen Award, getting 3 awards in total, gaining public attention once again for his market value.
The perfect “gentleman,” Park Yoochun, during his time in TVXQ, was known for both his talents and looks, and was a star with limitless potential.
In Japan, he gained attention for participating in the Japanese mobile television BeeTV’s drama. His entertainment career was one that people would be envious of, but at this time, his life was suddenly faced with a big challenge, which is the lawsuit against SM Entertainment. Furthermore, he and the other 2 members Jaejoong and Junsu, after leaving their original group, formed JYJ, but their performing activities faced various obstacles, not allowing them to move forward.
But, did he eat some elixir of youth? Park Yoochun’s talents are still actively exhibited in front of everybody. Recently, he has been fortunate enough to have a mountain of projects to pick from. Like a carp swimming against the rushing currents, he is pushing forward for the sake of challenging himself. This is the Park Yoochun that I see.
When I first saw you, it was in 2004 during TVXQ’s debut song “HUG.” 7 years have passed in a flash. During that time, you looked really polite and sincere, do you still hear such words now?
Just like now, to meet people that I had met previously, and still being able to hear such compliments, I’m really feeling good! I started off as a singer, so what I worry about the most is whether I would mix confidence and arrogance up. Even now, no matter where I go, I still maintain the same type of humility as before, and hope to leave a good impression on people.
Congratulations on winning 3 awards at the KBS Drama Awards. You only did one project, and you managed to achieve such results, this goes to show that you are really popular! To be successful in both music and acting industries, what is your secret?”
This is an embarrassing question for me. (Laughs) I’ve never thought of this, I feel that this project just fell nicely into place. (Not only was it successful, but successful three times over.) Many singers choose to go into acting, and to overcome the burden I had during that time, I worked even harder, and I didn’t think too much about the success or failure. This is how I managed to concentrate on acting, and commit myself to the role. The secret of popularity…hmm…I wonder if this is the same logic as being a whiteboard? Honestly speaking, although it is not always in a state of total cleanliness, but when required, it will be filled, yet it can be erased, so that I can continue to plan whatever I want on it.
Recently, the trend of entertainment industry has been changing rapidly, so it is common for singers to do acting as well. Your situation is the same as other artists, but I want to know, what is your true aim in wanting to act? Was it some opportunity, that made you want to be an actor?
After I started out as an actor, I really wanted to try acting. I really wanted to study acting properly. During Sungkyunkwan Scandal, a lot of people asked me: “(You’ve been in the entertainment industry,) why are you only starting to act now?” But I feel that even starting to act now may be a little early! The reason I wanted to act…is because I really wanted to act.
Recently, via the KBS Drama Awards, you finally managed to get perform on stage after a long time. The fans were also anticipating your performance, but you only managed to sing one drama theme song, and the fans did somewhat feel like it was a pity, since it is JYJ’s stage in front of the fans after all. Did you feel any regret?
Actually, I too would like to perform more for everyone, but circumstances didn’t allow it. Even though it was just one song, we were still very happy. We, too want to sing our own songs, but just the feeling of standing on stage, it’s really very good. Maybe it’s been too long since we’ve been of stage, so we were really able to enjoy the stage comfortably. As for regrets… it’s not just us, but the fans present as well as the viewers on stage were all able to feel it. I hope that this year, we will be able to have better performances for everyone to see.

You are currently in the midst of the lawsuit with SME. Due to various circumstances, your appearances and activities have been limited. If you had stayed in your original place, you wouldn’t be in such a difficult situation now, and you would still be standing on the stage in an untouchable position. It was such a level of glory, why did you give it up?

We had already decided to do it. I don’t deny that we gave up the glory. Standing at the top position, we never thought about such problems, we just want to continue performing for a longer time. (Not wanting the glory, just wanting to stay in this line for a longer time). Now, we just want to form a new family, while working.

Upon hearing that you would be acting, many people mocked, “Why are you even acting?” but now, everyone is looking forward to your next project. The anticipation towards “Actor Park Yoochun” has increased.

I’ve received a lot of drama and movie scripts, but I’ve not had the time to look through every book. I will not pick a project on impulse, but discuss the good projects with people around me before making a decision. This situation arose because of the popularity of “Sungkyunkwan Scandal.” (laughs)

You are still a newcomer at the moment, so it’s inevitable that people are more critical about your acting. I think that this necessary in your path to becoming a good actor. But towards your own acting, were there times that you got really mad?

Of course there were. While shooting “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” I prepared a lot, but the director said that my acting skills were not up to par. Every time this happened, my mind would blank out. I really wanted to do well in front of the director, but when things did not go my way, I got really angry at myself.

After filming was completed, what was going through your mind?

Two days after completion, I was really unwell. For those two days, I stayed at home doing nothing, and I couldn’t even remember anything about the filming location. After I got better, it dawned on me, “Ah! My drama is over.” Initially, I wanted to know everyone’s reactions to my acting, so I switched on the computer and went online to look around, but it got a bit embarrassing so I shut it down. Other than that..Did I make any mistakes in front of the seniors? Or did I do anything wrong? Did I forget to bow to anybody? Things like that, I keep thinking back to the time when we were shooting, the people that I did not manage to extend courtesies to, I called them one by one to do so.

In this line, how long do you think you will work for?

During our concert in Japan, I suddenly asked myself, “How long can I hold on for?” Firstly, I thought about making my mom, brother, fans, members, and everyone else around me happy, and I want to do this until everyone is satisfied. But, a long time from now, when my mom is old and has may even have difficulty walking, during then, I want to be by her side, taking care of her.”

You were able to win 3 awards, and this shows the power of your fans! But have you thought of the future, when your acting becomes recognized, will you be seeking even higher accolades?

This is why my burden is even heavier, and I feel sorry. During that time, I really felt really good, but I was really doubting if I won that award. Winning this award is a positive motivation for me.
Also, thinking back to the annual award shows, I realized that actors participating in popular projects win the big awards by doing only one project a year. However, I don’t think this way. I feel that since you win a big award, you should try to gain recognition by participating in various projects.

Being an actor or a singer, which do you think suits you more?

I like music and acting, not the profession of Actor or Singer. I started composing from middle school, and recently, even if I am not able to compose every night, I will still try to play the piano for a while. I recognize that I really love music. Once inspiration hits, I will start writing the tune out immediately. (Laughs.) With regards to acting, reading the script is a big burden, but once shooting begins, I immerse myself in it. Ah, I’m actually very interested (in acting.) I like both music and acting, and am interested in both, because they give me a sense of accomplishment.

We want to know what your plans are for this year

For the early part of the year, the worldwide album is be released in US, and we plan to promote the album, and are also planning a concert world tour. During this time, I plan to pick a good project, and to prepare for a shoot, go for more acting classes, and meet the viewers via a television drama at the second half of the year. At the moment, Junsu is working on the musical “Tears of Heaven” and JYJ overseas activities, and Jaejoong also has plans to do a drama for the second half of the year.

Are you happy recently?

Will what I say be considered boring? But recently, I have been living an interesting life. I cherish every little thing, and I am very happy.

“I really want a girlfriend.”
JYJ member Park Yoochun’s new year wish : “I want to fall in love!”
Park Yoochun, with blood type O, had girlfriends with blood type O and blood type A before, and each relationship lasted for 3 years, and there was good understanding. Now, he wanted to find a girlfriend that he can marry.
On the afternoon of the 13th, in an interview with chosun.com, he mentioned, “My father’s health has not been good, and so far, I have never brought a girlfriend home to my parents. If I have a chance, before his condition worsens, I want to introduce (my girlfriend) to him.”
When asked about his ideal type, he said, “I want someone with a kind face, a person that gives a feeling of sunshine. Someone who loves the people around us, a family type, who can get along well with the relatives.
Recently, Park Yoochun has been rumored to be dating Sungkyunkwan Scandal co-star Park Minyoung, to his, Yoochun replied, “Truthfully, this is just a rumour.”

[TRANS] 20-10104 JYJ's Love Lives Become Talking Point; Talks About Ideal Type

The group JYJ [Park Yoochun, Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu] has been garnering a lot of interest recently.

They, who used to be a part of the 5-member group TVXQ, released their first album "The Beginning" in October last year. Park Yoochun also excelled in his role in the drama "SungKyunKwan Scandal", gaining a lot of support from the audience. JYJ, who originated from TVXQ, enjoys high popularity not only in Korea, but around the world as well. As such, after they went solo, it was a great loss to the cultural and arts industry. They performed for the first time during the "2010 KBS Drama Acting Awards" last December and earned positive comments from TV audiences. Especially for Park Yoochun, who starred in his first TV drama, we reveal their thoughts regarding the rumours that surfaced in the interview below.

TVD: With regards to the rumour between Park Yoochun and Park Minyoung, what are the members thoughts? Do you feel envious?

JYJ: We think it's nice. As for being envious, we knew how difficult it was during the process of filming, so we were more worried than anything else.

TVD: The members talk about Park Yoochun's acting.

JYJ: We think he really has a flair for acting. We saw images of the filming and went down to the filming site to cheer him on. From then on, we were not just members of Yoochun, but fans who have immersed in the drama and hoped that it could be longer.

TVD: JYJ expressed that there is no one in particular that they have been in close contact with recently and they basically don't have situations where they try to match-make the other members. In this cold winter season, they are still single. For JYJ who don't have lovers, what are their ideal types?

[Interview] JYJ on past girlfriends and the possibility of regrouping as TVXQ

The trio of JYJ recently participated in a revealing interview with TV Report, as they discussed their achievements, the possibility of regrouping as TVXQ, and their past girlfriends.

The clout of the trio is unarguable, as they’ve scored numerous achievements in their short career as ‘JYJ’. For example, they received 520,000 pre-orders for their first album, “The Beginning,” and completed a world tour. The trio even ranked in the top five for Billboard’s “2010 Albums of the Year” chart, in addition to having their article featured on the site’s main page.

“We’ve had a lot of promotions in 2010, but because they weren’t shown on broadcast programs or main portals, the public seems to be misunderstanding us. We really did spend a busy year, and although we had individual activities, we’ve also had an Asian tour and a U.S. showcase. There is a bit of disappointment in not being able to promote on broadcast shows. Being featured on Billboard, ranking in on the top five, and even working with top American producers… all of that didn’t create headlines. It’s disappointing that they’ve been recorded as just personal achievements by us,” they stated.

Regarding their relationship with TVXQ, they stated, “We have tried contacting Yunho and Changmin, but we weren’t able to reach them. Everyone has their own personal agendas to tend to. We’re not just any old relationship that was together for a year or two. There aren’t any misunderstandings towards the two. Even though we’re apart, we trust that they know our genuine honesty.”

They continued, “We’ve already saw it a few times in other interviews, but we really do wish that they do well and show amazing sides of themselves. There is something upsetting about them coming out under the name of TVXQ, since we’re TVXQ too.”

On the topic of their lawsuit against SM Entertainment, the three further added, “We’re handling everything as best as we can since they’re all things we expected once we decided to leave SM. It’s difficult, but we’re trusting it to resolve itself and thinking positively.”

When asked about the possibility of regrouping as five members again, they replied, “Our situation might look cloudy right now, but we know that that day will come one day. It’s not like we’ve only been together for a year or two, we’ve been there for each other at our hardest, most difficult, and most passionate, all striving for one goal. We dreamed the same dreams under the same sky, so that door of possibility will always remain open.”

The reporter then asked if they felt any disappointment in disbanding when they were at the height of their success as five members in Japan. JYJ answered, “We didn’t think about the commercial benefits at the time. It was just upsetting that we felt the need to break away when we were at the height of our fame (Tokyo Dome Concert)… We made the decision knowing that we might never be able to sing again, so instead of saying ‘disappointing’, I think ‘upsetting’ is a better term.”

They continued, “When we first began in Japan, we weren’t able to promote on broadcast programs in Tokyo, so we had to get our name known through broadcast programs in the suburbs. But now, seeing our juniors achieve success in Japan makes us think that it’s an amazing feat for them to be able to earn attention from major Japanese labels so early on in their careers. BoA gave us hope for our Japanese advancement and paved that road. I think we’d be proud if we were able to allow our juniors to advance into Japan in a better environment.”

TVXQ expressed feeling that their efforts were worth it, judging by the support they’ve received from their fans. “Through our world tour, it felt great being able to meet fans from Europe and South America. It felt as if we were able to show off our music to a variety of people. Especially at our New York concert, 7,000 fans rushed into a garden originally meant for 3,000 people, which led police to come out to the scene. It felt good.”

The direction of the interview was then changed to another topic of hot interest: girls. When asked about their most painful dating experience, the three responded, “As opposed to most painful… As you know, we’ve never just stayed in Korea. We had a busy schedule that required us to travel between Korea and Japan. All three of us have such passion for music, so our girlfriends could never last.”

They continued, “Things other boyfriends could do like remembering anniversaries and going on weekend dates were unrealistic for us. Our girlfriends thought we weren’t paying attention to their needs and would feel disappointed. Honestly, it’s hard for us to keep any long-term relationship since it would get difficult even before the relationship starts.”

Concluding the interview, JYJ were asked what their goals for the new year were. “Our goal is to work hard on our JYJ worldwide album promotion in the U.S. and to show off an amazing world tour starting March. We also hope that our music essay being released this month earns a lot of love. Since 2011 is the year of the rabbit, we’re looking forward to catching both ‘rabbits’ and spending more time with our fans on stage.”

[TRANS] 20101230 JYJ Interview Chosun.com

-JYJ’s heartfelt confession regarding the predicaments faced due to their previous management

-JYJ “What should we do?” .. in the midst of thinking of advancing into Japan next year.

-Junsu’s new year greeting: “I shall think of the year of the rabbit as my year.”

“Thinking that only good things will happen right? This kind of conclusion has not been reached. Because we are prepared and settled even in the worst situations, we don’t feel depressed daily due to the uncertain circumstances surrounding us.”

Before we knew it, 3 months has passed since JYJ came out from DBSK and formed their trio. And this is the statement that JaeJoong, YooChun and Junsu delivered.
Even while complications arise with their previous management and previous contract, JYJ released their latest album “The Beginning” and are looking forward to new stage activities. Early next month, they plan to release their “Music Essay”.

In a recent interview with Chosun.com, JYJ said,

“A year and a half ago, we had this similar resolution. During our golden days as DBSK, we had the intention of creating this huge resolution. Because we had the readiness to be able to form the life of a singer, and appeared from such a position, all our activities now are precious and we are thankful for them.”

After H.O.T, DBSK ruled the world of singers and were the best male group; it is difficult to forget such a splendid past. JYJ said,

“We are forever DBSK. In the future too, as DBSK, we cannot disappoint our fans. We have no intention of losing reputation and value. Because of that, now, we are determined to treat JYJ’s every move with the greatest care and deliberation. Though becoming from 5 members to 3 members is seemingly a very big change, compared to us having transformed, we would like to hear stories of us moving forward from now on.”

Due to the lawsuit regarding their contract with SM Entertainment and “restrictions on appearing in Broadcasts” etc, the surrounding circumstances have made the 3 members’ individual movements messy. However JYJ said,

“Because we have to independently deliberate and come to a decision on everything, there will be moments when it gets difficult. Sometimes when the issues aren’t solved well, we ask ourselves, “why even for those parts where it can be easily settled , we have to do through it so difficultly”, and became depressed, but in the end, we met a good management and agency and enjoy working and the end result is also good.”

“What will you guys do?” “is 3 months long?” While JYJ was formed separately, there were many negative viewpoints surrounding them. However JYJ recently released a formal album, and while going back and forth between Asia and America, they completed their showcases with the least strain. While revealing that they are now in the process of discussing with the Japan management on their advancement into Japan, a commotion has started in the music industry.

Next year January, JYJ’s worldwide album will be formally released for sale in America. Their management said,

“Over in Japan, the interest in JYJ is growing, and we see that there is a lot of anticipation. It is true that the discussion of holding activities in Japan is ongoing. Full fledged activities should begin sometime next year.”

JYJ said, “It has already been 7 years since we have been together. Now, just by looking at each other’s eyes, we can tell what the other person is feeling. We are also in full anticipation of what we will be able to present in future.”

JaeJoong said, “It would be great if we could carry out the activities as ourselves, while with all members being healthy and not falling sick, and always cherishing each other like that and being strong.”

Junsu said, “Till now, I have been working while we monitor each other and receive reliable strength. Even if we were to carry out our own individual projects once again, it would be great if we were to all try our best and achieve great success.”

YooChun said, “Since our debut, this is the first time I have gone on a holiday with the members after finishing a concert, it was really awesome. In the future if we could go for holidays often and also make room to meet with our families, it would be great.”

We were curious about how JYJ feels regarding SM Entertainment’s official announcement that the 2-membered unit of DBSK will be resuming their activities from the start of next year.

JYJ said, “It would be great if thinks work out well for them. Though we feel some regret that they will be appearing with the name DBSK, we do not believe that DBSK means 2 members. We hope that without losing the value of DBSK, they will present awesome and cool activities.”

“Giving New Year Greetings.”

The three members of JYJ talked about their New Year wishes for themselves and presented their fans with New Year greetings.

Because on his profile, his birthday is written as 1/1/1987, Junsu is often mistaken as having been born in the year of the rabbit. However, his real birth date is 15/12/1986. Next year is the year of the rabbit, and his name keeps getting included as celebrities who are born in the year of the rabbit. With regards to that, Junsu said,

“Even though I am another year older, isn’t it good to eat more? (laughs) I shall think of next year, the year of the rabbit, as my year, and pray that I will achieve many good things. I hope to portray a good image of myself in the musical “Tears of Heaven” that I am acting in now.”

JaeJoong said, “I am in anticipation to hold activities more freely and vivaciously as JYJ. In the future too, I would like to show a more amazing image of myself through the world tour concert. I hope that the fans will be able to achieve all of their New Year wishes.”

YooChun said, “The Music Essay which will be released this round is a production which includes brand new stories about things which have happened to us and the relationships between the members, which are told through music. So I hope that the fans will show even more interest. I hope that you will receive a promising New Year.”

[Interview] 101221 JYJ : “We’ll Bring You Better Results Next Year”

For JYJ to be able to get such a huge popularity, it is due to Micky YooChun’s biggest contribution of acting in the TV drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’. After appearing in the drama, his popularity rose, and the ladies in the age group of 30 to 40 years old who did not know TVXQ or JYJ have mostly became fans of JYJ.
“The number of auntie fans has always been big, but now because of YooChun, it has become even bigger. A lot of auntie fans thought that YooChun was a rookie. (laughs)” – (Xiah JunSu)
“On the internet, there is this famed white-haired granny who calls herself a fan of YooChun. Many people know of YooChun through ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, and then they come to see our concerts. Because they loved ‘Lee SeonJun’ they knew of YooChun, and because of YooChun they became fans of JYJ.” – (Kim JaeJoong)
Both JunSu and JaeJoong exclaimed together about YooChun’s massive popularity, while YooChun, sitting at the side, said with a shy smile: “We’ll bring you better results next year, and meet everyone then.”

[Interview] 101220 [Star OX] JYJ, “TVXQ, A Reunion Is Possible

Due to their legal dispute with their former agency SM Entertainment, Junsu, Jaejoong and Yoochun are currently active as JYJ, not TVXQ. Each are trying new things such as dramas and musicals and showing off their hidden potentials, but recommenced activities as singers when they released their album ‘The Beginning’ on October 14th. The album has been successful with pre-orders for ‘The Beginning’ hitting over 520,000 copies and ranking 5th on the This Year’s Songs chart chosen by US Billboard readers. Though they’ve been going non-stop, they are now stuck in a situation where the members of TVXQ are being pitted against each other with U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin announcing their comeback as a two-member TVXQ in January of 2011. Though it is a sensitive topic, we could not help but ask about TVXQ. Though the three people expressed their unwillingness as they said, “Though it isn’t something we can’t talk about…” they answered our OX questions in a candid manner.
Question 1. A TVXQ reunion is possible : O
Though they have never mentioned the possibility of a TVXQ reunion since they began their independent activities, it is the subject that 800,000 Cassiopeia (TVXQ’s fanclub) have been most curious about. Though JYJ seemed taken aback at first, they confessed that, “We haven’t had a chance to talk about it (a reunion), because we’ve never had anyone actually ask us about it.” Jaejoong said, “We want a reunion to happen. But that is only our will, there are so many difficult aspects to the situation. As there are so many things we can’t change…
Question 2. The establishment of a two-member TVXQ, honestly, we’re sad about this : O
SM recently announced that, “U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin, will form a two-member TVXQ, release a new song on January 5th and make a comeback.” What do JYJ think about this? Yoochun confessed that, “There is a side of us that is sad about this.” Because the team’s name was about the three members had worried about and discussed the most when they were creating their new team. But he added that, “But this is a decision that was made by SM. I’m sure that in their hearts, the two members are also feeling uncomfortable about this and are having a hard time because of it. But the decision has been made, so I hope all goes well for them.”
Jaejoong also added that, “Though we do feel a little sad that the two members are going to make a comeback as TVXQ, we are thankful that they didn’t say that TVXQ is now gone. We’re going to support the two members’ comeback.”

Question 3. But we will still be TVXQ eternally : 0
Though they are physically apart, their hearts are still one. Jaejoong stated, “Regardless of whether or not they are using the name now, even if the team name disappeared, we are still TVXQ. It was during our time as TVXQ that we shone the most and gave it our all. That is something that no one can deny.
He continued to explain that, “We didn’t work hard to see who could do better between them and us. We worked hard with all our might because we felt that we should be successful enough as to not disgrace the name of TVXQ,” and “Though we have come to such a situation due to our problems with the agency, we are still members of TVXQ. The three of us alone cannot be TVXQ. Cassiopeia was created because they loved TVXQ as a whole, not because they loved individual members.”
Question 4. We think we are idols stricken with age : O
Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong debuted in the Kpop scene as teenagers. Five years have passed and they have become youths in their mid-20s. Though the question of age is one that can be quite fatal to idols, JYJ nodded without a hint of hesitation.
Yoochun revealed that, “It’s not that we’re old. I think that we’re still pretty young but because so many kids who are much younger than us are debuting, we feel like they find it hard to relate to us when we get the chance to meet.” But Jaejoong joked as he said, “But don’t you think we look quite young for our age?”
They were able to build on their appearance as artistes with five years of experience in their pockets. Their new album includes compositions by the three members and they participated in making the decisions on their photoshoots, the album concept and the song choice. Junsu showed his pride as he said, “Though there was much more that we had to worry about and work on, that made us feel more affectionate towards this album. I feel as though we are leaning more towards being artistes rather than idols than before.”
Question 5. We knew that JYJ would be a hit : X
This was the only question that was answered with an X. They only printed a small number of albums because they weren’t expecting much as the album market is in such a slump. But the reaction they received was so unexpectedly explosive that even people in their agencies weren’t able to receive CDs.
Jaejoong said, “We were allowed to choose album numbers for ourselves. I got number 99,999, Junsu got number 9,999 and Yoochun got number 2.” Though they ranked #1 on the album sales charts, they did not have many opportunities to perform. Other than their showcases and concerts, they weren’t able to showcase their talents as singers.
Regarding this, Junsu said, “Of course we do feel upset that we didn’t have many opportunities to perform. But there were many things we anticipated would come our way including restrictions on our activities. So we focused more on the sense of accomplishment and joy we felt about the fact that our first album, created from our hard work and our effort, had been released. It is meaningful to us.”

[Interview] 101220 JYJ’s New Leap “The Broadcasting Restrictions Are A Shame”

Unable to engage in regular activities due to problems with their former agency
Their album will be released in the US early next year, followed by a world tour

They are honest and austere. The three members of JYJ, Jaejoong-Yoochun-Junsu, are passionate youths in their mid-20s, no different from their peers. When we asked Yoochun, who recently starred in the drama <SungKyunKwan Scandal> as the lead role, “We enjoyed your drama. Do you plan on taking on a non-historical, modern drama?” he gave us a taste of his ‘lame humor’ by saying “Hyundai Geuk (modern drama), Kia Geuk, Samsung Geuk…” Everyone burst out in laughter a beat late.

But when we brought up the topic of their legal dispute with SM Entertainment, the agency of their former group TVXQ, a shadow was cast on the three youths’ faces. Last July, the three members filed an exclusive contract suspension injunction stating that, “13 years for the contract length is too long, and we have not been receiving just treatment with regards to things such as income distribution from album sales.” The Courts ruled in favor of JYJ that, “Until the verdict on the lawsuit is made, SM cannot interfere with the trio’s independent activities in the entertainment industry,” and the lawsuit on the exclusive contract is currently underway. With regards to the reason of why they filed the lawsuit, Junsu stated, “It wasn’t just because of the unjust nature of the contract,” and “We were hurt and scarred by the agency in areas where we put our trust in them so we began to think about searching for a happy life.“

Though JYJ released their first album <The Beginning> in October, they have not been able to engage in regular activities due to many problems, including SM claiming that JYJ are locked in a ‘dual contract’. The Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry sent an official document to broadcasting companies requesting that they refrain from giving JYJ appearances on their shows. Junsu stated, “It’s a shame and it’s frustrating that we don’t have the freedom to appear on TV like other singers. Because our relationship with AVEX, who was in charge of our Japanese activities, no longer exists, our door to Japanese activities is blocked as well.”

They are currently holding activities after signing on to an agent contract with CJeS Entertainment. What is different from before? “Everything that we thought was unjust has been fixed. We feel a greater sense of accomplishment because everything revolves around our opinions, no matter what it is. We’ve learned to be thankful of even the small things that we used to easily brush off before.” (Junsu) “Each and every detail on the album, from the cover to the recording and mixing of the songs, was decided upon through discussions between the agency and the three of us. The thought that ‘Doing things this way is really nice’ was reinforced through the process.” (Jaejoong)

“Back when we were TVXQ, there was too much work and no time to spare. When we were working on an album, the staff, excluding us and our composers, would hold discussions and just send us their decisions on everything.” (Yoochun)

The trio decided to include songs composed by each of them in their album. Junsu stated, “We enjoy writing songs, but we won’t insist on having to include songs composed by ourselves,” and “What matters most is that we’re singing good songs, regardless of whether it was us who wrote the songs or not.” In their first concert on the 27th and 28th of last month, they sang Jaejoong’s new composition ‘Nine’. It is a song about the nine years the five members of TVXQ have spent together. “When I look back on the past nine years, there were times when we shined and there were times when things were rough… It’s hard to express it all in one sentence. What I included in the song is only a small portion of what I feel.” (Jaejoong) “If we were to express in song, everything that has happened till now, we’d need to compose at least 500 songs?” (Yoochun)

The trio still have a strong attachment to ‘TVXQ’. When asked about their feelings on U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin’s comeback as TVXQ next year, Jaejoong stated, “We support them and we hope all goes well for them.” But he also added that, “But we do feel sad that they’re using the name TVXQ. Because we think that TVXQ can only truly be TVXQ when the five members are together, we decided to use another name. TVXQ is a name that is as valuable to us as our lives.” Yoochun added, “Though we are currently facing many difficulties, we are always open to the possibility of a TVXQ reunion,” and “That would be like Utopia for us.”

JYJ will be kicking off their US activities with the release of their album in the US early next year. Jaejoong stated, “While we’re in the US, we’ll be working on some music and holding a world tour.” Junsu sounded bitter as he stated, “There is the aspect that due to the restrictions on our domestic activities, we’ve had to entirely focus our attention on overseas activities.“

We asked them one final question. We asked them whether or not they felt sad that other singers were reaping the rewards of the hard work the members had put in to get the ‘Kpop’ wind blowing in Japan as JYJ are unable to perform there.

“Not at all. We were able to be loved in Japan thanks to BoA and Bae Yong Joon. If what we’ve done benefits our juniors, then that’s something to feel good about. If our juniors to well and the Japanese market expands, we might be able to perform in Japan again.” (Junsu)

[Interview] 101219 JYJ, “We Are Considering Reconciliation, We Don’t Know When That Will Happen Though”

Standing alone is tough.

From leaving their agency to filing a lawsuit last July, the members of TVXQ became the hottest issue in Kpop last year. TVXQ members Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and YoungWoong Jaejoong have not stopped going since then. They changed their names to Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong to become the group JYJ and when asked about their schedules since then, they confessed that they’ve been doing nothing but concentrating on their work.

“We’ve been going back and forth from Korea to Japan to perform. We’ve had concerts in both Korea and Japan, and we’ve also had our individual activities. I think we worked hard to stay busy and succeed in our individual activities because we didn’t want to think about other things.” (Yoochun)
SM Entertainment, the agency they worked under as TVXQ, had been a tall fence for them. But last year, they decided to take a giant leap. They parted with their agency. Though the controversy is still alive, the three had to rely on only each other and hope for a brighter future as the lawsuit continued on. But they were not taking a break before they met their current management agency. For a while, they were able to perform in Japan as their Japanese agency AVEX was taking care of them.

“We’re still in the same kind of situation now, but back then, we were cautious and sometimes had no chance to say certain things. This was when we were like a wandering rabble in Korea. But that didn’t mean it was easy for us to meet up with reporters. It was a sensitive time when any and every comment was misunderstood or criticized. It was a time when anything we said could and would hurt a lot of people. We’ll probably be able to talk about everything in the future, after the lawsuit is over.” (Jaejoong)

JYJ, who released new albums in both Japan and then Korea, decided to name their album ‘The Beginning’ to signify their new beginning. Due to visa issues, they had to hold free showcases in the United States instead of charging people. But this misfortune became an opportunity for them.

“Never in our imagination did we think fans from so many different ethnicities would show up to watch our performances. The age range was quite large too, so a grand spectacle, one you could only see at a performance by a famous pop star like Michael Jackson, unfolded before us. There were some people who didn’t know who we were so they stared at us blankly at first, but then they’d start moving to the music and get in the groove, and by the end, they were giving us a thumbs-up. They had quite a different aura to them compared to our Asian fans.”

Thanks to the fact that the performance was free, the three were able to introduce their music to more people. Even the production for their first album was done in a global manner. The album attracted some of America’s greatest star producers such as Kanye West and is composed of seven songs, including ‘Ayyy Girl’, ‘Empty’, ‘Be My Girl’ and compositions from the members, as well as three remix songs. JYJ sang the entire album in English as this is a worldwide album and it includes songs composed by the three members. They included one song from each member that the three had been writing since they were in their teens and these were Jaejoong’s ‘Still in Love’, Yoochun’s ‘I Love You’ and Junsu’s ‘I Can Soar’. Also, ex-SOLID member Jung Jae Yoon was in charge of the overall tuning and producing of the album.

“They’re traditional pop pieces. This is the first time we’re trying this genre out. But that doesn’t mean we were trying to change it to suit our style. We wanted to return to the root of music. We visited the US in order to work with our producers. Back then, Yoochun was still filming for his drama so it must have been really hard on him.” (Jaejoong)

These were words directed at Yoochun, who appeared in the recently-ended KBS2 hit drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’. After being cast in the drama, Yoochun focused intensively on rehearsing his part and surprised everyone with his acting skills. He was not swept in any acting skills controversies like most idol stars are when they first start out. He surely must have felt extremely stressed back then but continued to work on the album while filming. JYJ are now planning to focus more on their activities in America.

“Our album hasn’t been officially released yet in the US and only our songs are being sold on iTunes, but I saw that our song had been chosen by Billboard readers as one of the Top 10 songs of 2010. Amazingly, we were 5th. Kanye West was 10th and Lady Ga Ga was 7th so we were surprised.” (Junsu)

Junsu will be standing on stage next year on February 1st as he will be appearing in the musical production ‘Tears of Heaven’. Like so, the trio are involved in individual activities, waiting to release their album in the US in mid-January, and planning their world tour. We threw a quite heavy question at JYJ, who will be up to their elbows in work with such a schedule, asking them, “What will you do about SM Entertainment or the remaining members of TVXQ, regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit?” Though they were hesitant, they left a short but bold statement promising a future together as they said, “We are considering reconciliation. We don’t know when that will happen though.”

[Interview] 101221 “SungKyunKwan Scandal” Park Yoochun Interview – “Best Newcomer Award? I think Yoon Shi Yoon will win.”

With regards to the Best Newcomer Award for the 2010 KBS Drama Awards, there has already been talks about it “not losing out to the big awards.” This is because among the nominees are Yoon Shi Yoon and Joo Won from “Baker King Kim Tak Goo,” which enjoyed ratings of nearly 50%, as well as Park Yoochun, who challenges acting in a drama for the first time in “SungKyunKwan Scandal.”

In comparison to “Baker King Kim Tak Goo,” “SungKyunKwan Scandal’s” ratings are not as high, but has a large following, and created a lot of buzz during its airing.

In a recent interview with Newsen, Park Yoochun, when asked if he was looking forward to winning the Best Newcomer Award, he said, “ I want to win it, and it would be good if I could,” however, “I think that Yoon Shi Yoon will probably win.”

“Actually, I am very surprised to even be nominated, because this is my first project. So far, I still don’t feel like my acting is good, so I would be rather embarrassed if I won the award.”

Listening in on one side, fellow JYJ member Kim Jaejoong said, “Junsu won the Best Newcomer Award at the 16th Korean Musical Awards with Mozart, so if Yoochun could win as well, it would be good.” He also said, “While others were concentrated on acting, Yoochun also had to focus on the showcase as well as concert.”

Aside from Kim Junsu, who will be working on “Tears of Heaven” following “Mozart,” Kim Jaejoong and Park Yoochun said, “If there is a chance, we hope to continue being active in the acting arena via dramas and movies.”

Also, JYJ will be performing “Chajatta” from the “SungKyunKwan Scandal” OST at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards Stage.

[Interviews] 101220 JYJ’s First Interview “We Consider Ourselves As TVXQ Before JYJ”

They, who have been born again as JYJ from TVXQ, stated that they have never forgotten their ‘TVXQ’ roots. Though they are walking down a tunnel that wears them out physically and emotionally with many ordeals such as their continued lawsuit with SM, and the TV appearance restrictions that face them due to this problem, this is something they had been anticipating from the start. JYJ, who sing of hope amidst the chaos and adversities that surround them, are thankful of and treasure even the smallest things, as if they’ve embraced once more the feelings they had during their times as rookies.
What should be especially noted is that fans are an absolute presence to them. If talk of fans came up even when we were conversing pleasantly, their voices would drop deeper, and their eyes would tear up. We listened to JYJ’s story of spreading their presence out into the world with the fans’ support on their backs.
-What’s different about having activities as JYJ than before? What are the good and bad points?
▲ A good point would be that we’ve definitely fixed what needed to be fixed contract-wise, and the agency and the artiste are now on equal levels. We control what we do and how we do it from the beginning to the end. Those would be the advantages and we’ve formed an attachment to them.

A disadvantage could be that our current agency is weaker system-wise than our past one as it is quite new, which may be causing some of the ordeals we are still facing. But we don’t see it as a disadvantage because we see this as the process of becoming stronger. We are slowly but surely strengthening our system.
-The two members of TVXQ under SM will begin their activities in January? What do you think about this?
▲ We hope everything goes well for them. Our two friends’ comeback is something to welcome and we wish to support it. But honestly, we do feel sad that they’re using the name TVXQ. It’s not that they are TVXQ and we are JYJ. We consider ourselves as TVXQ before JYJ. It isn’t that the name TVXQ and the members are separate, it is that the name is meaningful only when the five of us are together. That is why we decided, after much thought and consideration, to use our initials to create JYJ instead of using the name of our group TVXQ so their decision makes us feel all the more sad with mixed emotions.”
-The Beginning album is in English. Why is it in English? Why did you choose to make a worldwide album?
▲ It’s not that we insisted that it had to be in English, we just decided to create a worldwide album because we have fanbases, not only in Korea, but in other places such as Asia and the US. We are so happy to have been able to meet with such top producers.
-Participation by representative artistes such as Kanye West and Rodney Darkchild Jerkins made your album a hot issue. What was it like?
▲ Before we met them, we felt a little pressured and wanted to keep our distance because they are such famous individuals. But once we met them, we found them to be great people who made us feel comfortable. Though we were distant at first, in the end, we felt that, ‘They’re people, just like us.”
-Your concert ended recently. There were many ups and downs, but how does it feel to have ended your concert well?
▲ The story of the concert is like a movie. We prepared so much, our anticipation was so high and we did our best to get ready, but we were met with hail and snow on the first day, which meant that we had to take down the roof cover that we had devoted the most time and energy on; it was so distressing. Because of this, there were 3~4 programs that we didn’t get to show our fans and we were upset because it felt as though we had failed to keep our promise to our fans.
But we were satisfied with the new type of choreography that we tried out with America’s best choreographers, the performances and the new songs. We were happy to have fans there with their warm support though it was such a cold day and we believe that the concert was a satisfactory one overall. After it was over, the members got together and cried our eyes out. We suffered by sleeping two, three hours in a week and there were many up and downs, but we feel happy to know that we showed our fans everything we wanted to show them.
-The lyrics for the song ‘Pierrot’ became a hot topic because of their profound meaning. What meaning do your compositions have for you? Do you write songs in your spare time? Does that mean we can presume that these compositions will be included in a new album soon?
▲ We do not feel that you have to write songs in order to be a musician. We write songs in our spare time for fans because we like music and we enjoy composing music and find it fun. Another reason is because we wanted to sing songs in Korean for our Korean fans at our concert. Because the songs were well-received, we want to release a commemoration album and we’re preparing one right now.
(Jaejoong) For the songs I composed, I wrote them thinking back to the times when I first began writing songs. Nine, which was written with the most basic chords in music, is meaningful as it reminisces of past memories, and I wrote Pierrot because I’ve always wanted to write a song criticizing society, much like many of the songs that came out during our rookie days, and I wanted to write about the stories of students trapped in school.
-Haven’t there been interferences in your activities, such as problems with appearing on TV and distributing your OST? How do you feel about these?
▲ We think it would be more adequate to call them hindrances, rather than interferences. Those were difficult times. But this was something we had anticipated from the start. It’s hard to decide to leave your agency if you aren’t prepared to accept that you may never be able to sing on stage again. We had mixed feelings and would think ‘How could they do such a thing’ at times, but we never gave up and thanks to our fans and our management family, we were able to reap good results. We believe we are now making great progress.
-We can’t not talk about the lawsuit. Recently, there has been much talk about your relationship with C-JeS, your current agency, what kind of contract do you have with them?
▲ C-JeS isn’t our ‘entertainment agency’, they are our ‘management agency’. We are trying to integrate a system that has never been tried before in Korea but is used in Japan and the US. It is where you sign a contract for each specialized job, such as management, distribution and advertisement. Not only are we using this system because we can’t sign on with another entertainment agency, but also because we want to work hard with a sense of duty as many people are watching to see what we’ll do next. C-JeS respects artistes and have been taking the role of an assistant till now, helping us to achieve good results.
-Your Japanese agency decided to suspend your activities indefinitely due to your relationship with C-JeS, what will happen to your future activities in Japan?
▲ It’s a frustrating problem. We’re trying as hard as we can to resolve the issue.
-Please say a couple of words to greet 2011 for your fans, who have been waiting to meet JYJ.
▲ (Yoochun) Because 2011, full of hope, is approaching, I don’t want to talk about this and that of my past anymore though it may be hard to keep it in. JYJ is prepared to show you the ‘epitome of working hard’ by working as hard as we can. I want to meet with fans in a casual environment. Next year, I will have fun while participating in our activities.
(Jaejoong) Me too. I don’t know what I should say because I have so many things to say, but honestly, these days I feel a bit confused. Please take this in a good way. I was confused as to who I should put as my priority in my life, is it me, is it our fans who helped me overcome the many waves that crashed down on my life, or is it best to prioritize both myself and our fans. People probably saw the fluctuations in my emotions through the tweets on my Twitter account. If I think of myself before others, I feel cold-hearted but if I think of our fans before others including myself, tears spring to my eyes. It’s been hard trying to find a balance, but I don’t think there will be any days in the future that were harder than those early this year. I will work hard for myself and for others.
(Junsu) What I can honestly say is that it’s a miracle that we’ve been able to come so far though we’ve gone through so many ridiculous ups and downs and it’s all thanks to our fans that we’ve been able to attain such an opportunity. I sincerely thank our fans. And our members, who held on much better than I did. I’ve been able to stay strong thanks to those two. We’ll keep knocking as hard as we can to open up more doors and possibilities.

[Trans] 101107 Yonhap News - Yoochun's Interview

'I truly experienced the joy of acting and I'd like to continue. I hope to be able to balance my activities as a singer and an actor in the future.'

Singer Park Yoochun (24) shone as an actor in his debut piece 'Sungkyunkwan and Scandal'

Much like Rain and Lee Seung Gi, Park Yoochun, member of Dong Bang Shin Ki and JYJ, has proven himself to be equally competent as both an actor and a singer.

Yoochun, exhausted after having finally completed filming for his drama 'Sungkyunkwan and Scandal', was interviewed on the night of the 5th. Sporting his freshly cut hair, he cheerfully said 'Despite losing 10kg and being hospitalized twice during filming, I had a really good time.'

Unlike the serious, conservative Lee Sun Joon, the rookie actor Park Yoochun maintained a dazzling smile on his face throughout the long interview. Yes, this is the same person who won over every single fan and earned himself every single ear-splitting scream by constantly pushing himself to the limit, ceaselessly fighting to achieve his goal.

Q: You looked good in your costumes. Do you normally wear hanbok?

Definitely not, even during special events and festivals, so I was glad to hear that I looked decent in one. I was never really worried about having to appear in a hanbok and having my hair tied up, on the contrary, dressing up like that made it easier for me to differentiate between me as a singer and as an actor in a historical drama. I was quite awkward the first few times we filmed, so most of the scenes we shot were ones without dialogue. Hearing people say that I looked like a scholar really lifted my spirits, yet at the same time, those comments put a lot of pressure on me because it meant that I had to work even harder to portray my character convincingly so that I wouldnt' just look the part on the outside. My mom visited the set once, I heard that she was shocked to see me dressed up in a way that was so unlike me yet so fitting at the same time.

Q: Lines in historical dramas are long and difficult, aren't they?

They really are difficult. The producer said this was more of a 'fusion' historical drama so tones weren't as important as they would've been had it been a typical historical drama. But I really wanted to do it properly, so I tried as much as I could to use the correct traditional tones and pronunciations and that was quite difficult. I put a lot of work into learning my lines properly from the very beginning. When we first started shooting, people would beg the director to give me 2 hours of sleep in between (so he'd have time for rest after learning his lines). Either way, I was willing to make that effort so we wouldn't have too many NGs.

Q: Despite the overlap of your filming schedule and JYJ's activities, your acting has consistently improved throughout each episode.

The two times I was sent to hospital, I finally understood the hardships of being an actor. Whenever I had time, I'd either be eating or sleeping, but because of all the pressure, I was rarely able to eat properly, and when I did, I'd have a hard time digesting the food. Eventually I ended up eating junk food all the time, which is probably why I lost 10kg. Whenever I thought I could finally get some sleep whilst we were moving locations, I'd have to stay up to learn my lines. Under such conditions, I also had to make time for the JYJ promotion schedules. When you're in that kind of situation, your mind is basically cleared of all thoughts and I found that I was able to focus even more on the drama. Even at times when there were lots of people crowded around us as we were filming, I'd keep myself completely focused on the script. My schedule was probably the tightest during filming for the last few episodes, so I had to work especially hard. Knowing that I had to leave the filming crew because of the JYJ showcases made me determined to deliver; I didn't want NGs, I wanted to have my scenes done in 1 or 2 shots. Every now and then, I'd hear people comment that my acting had improved since the last episode, but I didn't really have time to notice or appreciate it myself.

Q: How do you feel after filming this drama?

It was interesting. I was really able to immerse myself in the joy of acting and I began hoping that I'd be able to do more in the future. Kim Gap Su played the role of Sun Joon's father in the drama and he gave me a lot of good advice. Whenever I had scenes with him, I'd feel the hairs on my nape stand on end. He has a really powerful presence. Thanks to him, I did a much better job than I expected.

Q: The scene where you confessed your homosexual feelings has become a classic. People were really impressed by your acting.

By the time we reached that scene, there was honestly no time left. If we didn't finish it, it wouldn't have been broadcasted. Even if there were NGs, there was no time for retakes. We were at a folk village, so there were lots of people watching us as we filmed. All of us knew that we had no time to lose so everyone tried as hard as possible to complete their scenes within one take. Fortunately, it only took two takes that time. There was an NG the first time because I cried too much. The tears just seemed to rush out by themselves, so I was actually quite satisfied. I used to wonder how actors cried on spot, I thought it was absolutely fascinating. I mean, once it's been shot and edited, you get the background music and everything, but when you're filming it, there's no music, how are you supposed to suddenly start crying? Do people just play music alongside? When I got to doing it myself, I realized that it really was possible; if you were truly engaged in portraying that character and those emotions, you'd be able to do it. Ever since, I've gained a lot more confidence in filming crying scenes.

Q: When were you the happiest as Lee Sun Joon? What was your best experience as an actor? Did you have any worries or concerns?

I didn't know it at the time, but on my way back after filming on the 2nd, I was going through the script and I realized that Sun Joon must've been the happiest on the day that his father congratulated him on getting into Sungkyunkwan. As an actor, I was glad to know that I'd probably be able to act again in the future. As for concerns, I feel that Lee Sun Joon is the type of character who really would've made an impact and left his mark on history… I'm not sure I was able to really get that across to the audience. The seriousness at the beginning and the development of his character throughout the drama should've had a better flow, but because of my limitations, he seemed more childish than serious at the beginning.

Q: There's a bit of controversy revolving around the final episode, what are your thoughts?

It should've been longer. It's true that we rushed the ending. To be honest, I didn't want it to be a happy ending. There were so many things involved at that point that I felt as though it should've had a more tragic end to it, but then I got my script for episode 20 and as I read through the ending, I decided that I'd at least try to have a little fun with it. If I hadn't added the funny parts, I think I would've regretted it even more.

(Most of the final scenes were spontaneously improvised)

Q: A lot of 30-40 year old women who hadn't heard of Micky Yoochun have become your fans.

So I've heard.. but I'm not sure why (laughs). As we were filming at the folk village, a grandmother recognized me and happily chanted 'Lee Sun Joon'. Her family told me that she'd been getting rather obsessed over Lee Sun Joon. I'm not sure if it's because it was a historical drama about the old times but I was glad either way.
